Scrolling by Justina Clear

Scrolling through all the digital places

Seeing distorted, filtered, familiar faces

Scan through an article or two

And so sets in the impending doom

Hungry artists tallying streams

Empty smiles clogging the feed

Another caption reading, “Living the Dream”

But in this virtual reality

Nothing is ever as it seems

Do it for the gram, anything for views

A soapbox made of sand

To share diluted truths

And we keep scrolling, reading, watching

Enslaved to screen time, with no sign of it stopping
